Fiverr Update: What’s On Offer

Anyone following me on Instagram will have seen that, as of right now, there is a “sale” on over on Fiverr. But why is this a “sale” and not a SALE? I thought where better to lay it all out than the inactive blog I literally pay money out of my actual bank account each month to maintain and run?

New Offerings

After reviewing the various services I was selling on Fiverr, I noticed one consistent thing: they’re all super confusing. Whatever part of me decided that each gig should be tailored to a scripts level of completion should be taken out the back and shot. Rather than doing that, I’ve rebuilt the services from the ground up, meaning there is now an offer specifically for feature film writers, a service for short film & TV writers, and one for playwrights.

Each service is then tiered depending on the state of your work.

Tier 01 - Line Edits & Final Push

This tier will give you on-page line edits. It also comes with grammar and formatting notes, along with suggested influences & further reading. The main aim of this tier is to get you over the finish line for submitting to that competition. If you think your script is finished, but feel it needs a final polish or tweak before it’s truly ready, this is the tier for you.

Tier 02 - Get Final Redraft Ready

Maybe you’ve written a couple of drafts, and maybe you know it just needs one more to really sparkle. This is the tier for you. You’ll get a short, sharp, and actionable script report, focusing on tightening your script for a final redraft. There will be some overlap with the first tier when it comes to line edits and grammar help, but this is a tier that knows your next draft will resemble your previous draft, but won’t be identical. It’s less about identifying the lines to change, and more about identifying what is worth saving going forward.

Tier 03 - The Full Bluesky Experience

This is the big boy. A full script report, taking a macro look at the script for long-term development. This will be a potentially dense piece of work, but also the most valuable thing you’ll have read since starting your script. The report will zoom way, way out, looking at theme, voice, character, and story through the widest lens possible. It’s likely, after reading this report, that not a page of what you’ve written before will make its way to the next draft. That’s okay. In fact, that’s the most important step in a writers journey. What you will take forward is the knowledge that, with all your future drafts, you have a voice and something to say with it.

It may sound daunting, but this tier is perhaps the most playful. When everything’s on the chopping block, why not have fun with it? The thing I’m most looking forward to is helping evolve the screenwriting format. In the age of AI, the only way to truly excel is to inject personality into your script. If AI exists by scraping everything that’s come before it, this is our chance to push forward into something completely new.

The Full Price

There’s a cost of living crisis. That means, despite genuinely not being in this for the money, I do need to charge something in order to keep the lights on. For now, I’m going to be charging frankly a pittance for the work that will go into each tier of support, but that will change by the new year.

For full transparency, I want to make you all aware of where the pricing will be once the ‘discount gradient’ laid out below has ended. Of course, it should be a case of simple maths, but Fiverr irritatingly only allows you to charge in $5 increments, so the numbers are a bit squiffy.

Feature Screenplay

Tier 01 - $65

Tier 02 - $130

Tier 03 - $235

Short Film or TV Pilot

Tier 01 - $45

Tier 02 - $105

Tier 03 - $195

Stage Play

Tier 01 - $65

Tier 02 - $145

Tier 03 - $260

The Discount Gradient

So, what is a ‘Discount Gradient’?

Basically, right now, my prices are roughly 50% off what they should be according to the numbers above. On the 17th of each month, I’ll reduce the gap by 10% of the full price. So on 17th September, the prices will be 40% off full price, and so on.

Why am I doing this? A number of reasons. As mentioned at the top of this article, I have woefully neglected my freelance work. Not for naught, I’ve been a busy boy planning scratch nights and doing my own writing. But regardless, restarting with a discount is a good way to get my head back into it. It’ll also, hopefully, lead to a few more great reviews. Rather cynically, it is true that more reviews leads to more orders, which means I can afford to leave more lights on. And with those great reviews, I’ll be able to build relationships with writers, the most important part of this work!

I really am in this to help writers build confidence and a voice of their own, and I’m hoping that by doing this with my pricing, I can prove it through the work I do. If I can, then by the time the gradient ends, I will have proved that I am worth the amount I’m charging, and maybe even more.

But, let’s be fair, none of you read that soppy shit, you just wanted to see what the prices will be and when, so here you go:

There you have it, in black and white (and blue), the prices and reasons for them covering the next few months. If you’ve had your eye on upcoming deadlines, especially for screenwriting, you’ll know there’s a very good reason to cash in on 50% off a full TV script report now, as by late November it could be too pricey, and too late!
